Hello, my name is Gail Owens.
Up until four and a half years ago, I was morbidly obese. I had twins roughly five years ago, they both died. Shortly after they were born, I had appendicitis where the anaesthetist gave me five to ten years to live. I was so obese that I couldn’t walk up a flight of stairs.
I started to eat healthily and started off walking. I lost about 50lb (22kg) on my own. After that, I met a Personal Trainer who took me to the next level in my fitness quest – he introduced me to strength training. I then went on to lose 50kg. It was thanks to my second Personal Trainer that I got into Kettlebell training.
As my progress intensified, I did a wide range of courses and ended up becoming a fully qualified Personal Trainer. I now have quite a few certifications and I PT a number of clients on a weekly basis. I also teach 3 classes a week – one of whom is a circuits class and the other two are kettlebell classes.
At the moment, I am training for the Strength Matters Kettlebell Certification (similar to RKC and SFG).
I am passionate about fitness – minimalist training in particular.
I am hard style in my approach, but I am not closed minded – as such, I would be both interested in and willing to learn other styles.
