Information

This awesome kettlebell challenge involves the incredible Turkish get-up, clean and jerk, and CrossFit burpee. This challenge will test and increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance over a period of 27 days.

Well, today was awesome! That extra day of rest was amazing. I used a 16kg bell for this challenge and I’m quite pleased with my progression. I knew I needed to work on my TGUs and this challenge has been perfect for it. I also was able to do 30 burpees in 75 seconds. I did take a 2:30 minute break between exercises to maximize oxygen. I feel good about these results. I’m curious how I’m going to perform with the other side tomorrow with those TGUs.

A summary of the challenge:

  1. Set a sub-max benchmark for all three exercises
  2. Start the 3-day cycle and increase reps by 1 each time
  3. End the cycle and perform max reps

The Kettlebell Exercises

This kettlebell challenge builds upon 3 incredible exercises, namely the:

  • CrossFit burpee
  • Clean and jerk
  • Turkish Get-up

CrossFit burpees are performed at a cadence of 3, 4, or 5 seconds. Clean and jerks are to be performed continuously and Turkish get-ups are performed at your own pace. You can rest between each set but you can’t set the kettlebell down during the set.

The cadence for burpees is advanced 3 seconds, intermediate 4 seconds, and beginner 5 seconds.

The Kettlebell Challenge

Day 1 and 2 are to set a benchmark, and the remaining we cycle through days 1, 2, and 3 while increasing the set plus one repetition. The whole program is laid out for you below. Sub-max means sub-maximum, i.e. under the maximum that you could do.
