Why did you start the Underground Strength Gym?

After bodybuilding for half my life, the injury that set me over the top was my ACL tear.

I was training in BJJ and MMA and tore my ACL. I had injured myself before and I was furious with injuries coupled with my work ethic. It made no sense to me, so I attacked the studies and dedicated myself to becoming a Strength Coach focused on helping young athletes.

How did you start the Underground Strength Gym?

In my parents garage and backyard after purchasing some used equipment from newspaper classified ads in 2002!

What were the biggest struggles?

At first, it was getting the word out. There was no youtube, social media, etc. I would call Coaches everyday and wrote articles for the local newspaper and more. It was old school guerrilla marketing type work.

The 2 Pains In Life…..

The pain of Discipline or The Pain of Regret.

The pain of discipline goes away once you taste success.

The pain of regret will haunt you for a lifetime.
